Transaction organization
Categorize transactions using the agreed account structure and supporting records. Items without enough information are identified for your input, helping keep business explanations connected to the bookkeeping entries.
MONTHLY BOOKKEEPING
Running a business generates a constant flow of transactions, receipts, invoices, and questions. The Nexus Advisors helps organize that activity into a workable monthly routine, so your records stay useful and your independent CPA has a clearer starting point for professional review.
Our role is preparation and support. Nexus is not a CPA firm and does not hold a CPA designation. We prepare bookkeeping records and draft materials; your independent CPA handles professional review.
THE STARTING POINT
Monthly bookkeeping begins with understanding your accounts, transaction volume, existing records, and reporting needs. Together, we define the period covered, documents required, responsibilities, and deliverables. You provide the underlying records and answers to business questions; we organize the bookkeeping work and flag items that need clarification. The aim is a repeatable process with visible outstanding questions, rather than unexplained balances carried into the next month. Fees and timing are agreed before work begins.
WHAT THE WORK CAN INCLUDE
Categorize transactions using the agreed account structure and supporting records. Items without enough information are identified for your input, helping keep business explanations connected to the bookkeeping entries.
Reconcile the bank and credit card accounts included in the engagement against their statements. Identify differences, missing entries, and unresolved items so they can be addressed with appropriate supporting information.
Maintain a clear list of missing documents and bookkeeping questions. Where included in scope, organize accounts payable and receivable records and draft aging reports for your business to review.
Prepare agreed draft financial reports and supporting schedules from the bookkeeping records. Clearly identify the reporting period and open items that may affect the information before your independent CPA reviews it.
Organize reconciliations, supporting documents, and schedules for handoff to your independent CPA. Their professional review, conclusions, and any tax or assurance engagement remain separate from our bookkeeping support.
HOW WE WORK TOGETHER
Discuss your business, current accounting system, accounts, and priorities. Confirm who supplies records, who answers questions, the expected handoff dates, and what the monthly package will contain.
Provide complete statements, receipts, invoices, and relevant business explanations through the agreed sharing method. We work through the records and raise questions about missing information or differences.
Receive the agreed draft reports, reconciliations, and outstanding-item list. Resolve remaining questions with the appropriate business contact and provide the package to your independent CPA for professional review.
A LITTLE MORE CLARITY
Typically, the agreed bank and credit card statements, receipts, sales and supplier invoices, and explanations for unusual transactions. The exact list depends on your scope. Complete records and timely answers help the work move forward.
Yes, we can discuss record organization and aging reports as part of the scope. Responsibilities for approving bills, collecting customer balances, and authorizing payments should be agreed explicitly. Bookkeeping support does not itself authorize us to move funds.
No. The Nexus Advisors is not a CPA firm and does not hold a CPA designation. We provide bookkeeping and accounting groundwork. Your independent CPA handles professional review; we do not certify financial statements, perform audit or assurance work, or file tax returns.
